We get a small commission on everything you buy from Amazon.com if you click on one of our banners (above or below) to get there.

So if you're going to buy something anyhow, you might as well give us a concrete "thank you" for running the site. It doesn't cost you anything extra to enter Amazon.com via CathInfo. My "commission" comes out of their profit margins. It's money you would be paying anyhow.

I might point out that Amazon.com has very good prices for just about everything. I bought a pressure canner from them, for example. And we're the frugal type who price around for everything!

So if you could please remember to click my banner (above) before you start buying stuff from Amazon.com -- My wife and I (as well as Dominic, Miriam, and Bridget) will be most grateful.

Thanks,

Matthew

And you can click ANY banner being displayed to get to Amazon.com -- regardless of the kind of item you plan on buying.

Once you get to Amazon.com, you can use their navigation buttons/search function as normal.

So go ahead and click that girly Amazon.com banner for makeup and shoes -- once you get there, click on "Sports equipment, power tools, and other stuff for men *grunt*" and you'll be good to go :laugh1:

The important part is to click SOME CathInfo banner to get there, so it marks your session as coming from CathInfo. That is how I get my commission.

Yes, I've just tried to get to Amazon.co.uk through the Matthew's link, but I don't think I can.

If I go through that link, and then manually change .com... to .co.uk, will that count has starting the session via your link, Matthew?

Well, I'll try anyway!

 To talk about fundrasing in general, do you know that if you get some entity registered as a nonprofit, it does not have to be your main org, you can then register in marketplaces like Ebay to allow people to automatically get a percentage of sales?

How this could work: you leave the board as you have it, but form some nonprofit activity related to it, such as "give $500 scholarship to a Catholic kid" and this gives you the excuse to have a .org registered with the IRS.

Then you get the Missionfish qualification in Ebay and forget about it. (Just keep that $500 stashed and ready to award to a kid, maybe in an essay contest or however you set it up)

People like me could then go to our regular Ebay seller account and when we get the question "% to a nonprofit?" we click "yes" and select your org from the list. (I often choose 50-50 when I do charity auctions so that the listing cost is covered and I don't go broke)

That way, all your supporting members who do Ebay could randomly toss a percentage to you without feeling the loss in our personal budgets. You'd have a link somewhere that automatically would pull up all sales across Ebay that are throwing you a percentage, and you would not have to spend time doing Ebay sales yourself

People in Ebay, just random Catholics, would see "cathinfofund" or whatever you call your org when they are searching for Catholic orgs to support, especially if you make sure your description has several forms of the word "catholic" in it. So you'd be getting more exposure for cathinfo among random catholics at the same time as supporting this board and of course we'd all watch for those kinds of auctions and be supporting each other in the process.

All while doing pretty much what those of us who are in the ebay thing do anyway, without any extra work for you beyond your intitial effort of setting up your nonprofit registered org, which can be some separate thing from however you have cathinfo.com set up for yourself.

Plus, you get lots of free publicity and good PR when you award the scholarship. If you are real successful, you just award lots of scholarships. You don't have to have a staff working on complicated things like running a food pantry or something or getting into big time-consuming controversies.
