Thank you for this clarification of your rules, Matthew. I will do my best to abide by them.I mostly appreciate you will give warning so we can review what we have done to violate these rules, so we can either amend or leave voluntarily, if need be. Most fair.

@Matthew and everyone on this thread,

Since I'm now a candidate for "the Ban" I feel I should add my two cents here.

In my view the rules listed above are quite reasonable. In particular, the point that as Catholics it isn't our purpose to be "converting" one another to "the" faith when we're already so converted. Some of my opinions are controversial, to say the least, but I view them as opinions within various Catholic perspectives, not as anything truly novel or innovative. Our Catholic aristocratic traditions have been around for a very long time now and those who are scandalised by them may be unaware of our actual Catholic heritage and perhaps mistake their own comfort for orthodoxy. In particular I try to defend the nobility and glory of both the Imperial and Papal sides of our Catholic heritage together and in harmony with one another.

I am likely to be accused of heresy because of the unpopularity of some of my views, especially, as an American German Catholic, about things German and Catholic. But I believe such accusations are in fact targeting my politics, not my religion, even though many critics may find my religion much more troubling than my politics. As Our Lord has said that there are many mansions in His Father's Kingdom, so there should be plenty of room in Catholicism for a very wide range of different political viewpoints. Even mine!

The likely problem may be that the listed rules could be somewhat "too reasonable." Some may not care for such a high level of reasonableness and want to use any available opening to transform them into something more suited to their own preferences. These rules, however sensible they are, won't save us from controversy.

As we know, the Cross is always the great sign of contradiction. If truth is spoken, controversy must rage and, at times, no doubt blood must flow. Although preferably never here!!
