  • I don't subscribe to what Charles Coulombe says about baptism of desire, but at least he has now more openly come out with his position on the matter.

Thanks for the video link, however, regarding the comment that "at least he has now more openly come out with his position on the matter", he wrote a very thorough book in 1994, in defense of the strict interpretation of EENS. The title of the book was  "Desire and Deception", written under the pen name Thomas A. Hutchinson, that's 22 years ago. He has always been a defender of the strict EENS.

Yes and he has written articles where he clearly denies BOD, not sure why last tradhican thought he was not forthcoming about his position.

The video (I watched it yesterday) is more about EENS rather than BOD.  It only briefly mentions BOD, it more has to do with accepting that all non catholics are damned, and No Salvation outside the Church is not a metaphor.

  • Mr. Coulombe has been a reknown "Feeneyite" for many, many years. He is a good friend of Fr. Feeney, Brother Andre Marie, and the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, at the Saint Benedict Center in Richmond, NH. He also is a distinguished author and speaker in the annual SBC conference happening in October.
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • I knew about Coulombe being a Feeneyite for a long time. In a video I saw, Brother Andre of the SBC said that it was Coulombe who suggested the SBC to him when they met and Andre was having problems in the Novus Ordo seminary.

Sorry. I should have said he was more open about in the show on the Off the Menu.

I was not sure how to describe the video, tdrev123, and you're right. The video is more about EENS than BOD.

The matter has not been defined as of yet, but someday Holy Mother Church will define to settle it.

There are a lot more pressing problems to deal with first.

In the meantime, tell the CMRI that it hasn't been defined yet.  They don't agree with you. But they can't give a straight answer to the question: What is the date of the definition?
