  • I'd like to be somewhere rural when the stuff hits the fan, but want to live close, ideally within walking distance to a stable traditional church. Right now, we're living in the suburbs but could purchase a little homestead piece of property in about  5 years time, maybe sooner. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

You can also fish, but you need calories and roughage and vitamins that game meat and fish alone will not provide.

I wasn't alive for the "Great" Depression, but I have read eyewitness testimonials that mention how quickly game was depleted when everyone was hungry. How much faster will that happen with the "Greatest" Depression given our higher population density?

Yeah, that part of the country is sort of out of the question for me anyway. My husband would never agree.

Barely. I have lived there in the past. It is a beautiful land; but overwhelming Mormon, one of the masonic sects. I don't think a Traditional Catholic would be content there; although it is moral conservative for the most part.

This happened there recently and it is good news!:

  • I reckon the Ozarks are a good place for a bug out location. Lots of national forest, lakes and streams, and there are "mountains" which are not real mountains like the Rockies or Appalachians, but they're the highest elevations between both of those real mountain ranges. The Ozarks are generally a beautiful, serene area, but the vacation hotspots are not as much serene. It's somewhat nearby where I live. They're also in states that are still free (Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma), meaning no Jєω-Marxist gun control laws.

  • Skousen is probably a Mormon, accounting in part for his bias towards Utah, but his Strategic Relocation book is worth a gloss: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/156861053X/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=156861053X&linkCode=as2&tag=httpwwwchanco-20

  • I've read a lot of literature on bug out locations, what I like best is the saying to keep in mind you're not going to just bug out into the woods somewhere because someone probably owns those woods and aren't going to take kindly to strangers on their land. Also when everyone has the idea to go into agricultural areas, it's going to become a circus in those parts. All areas have advantages and disadvantages I think the main thing is to have a good group and community.

  • You could always start your own trad community!

I was excited to see a little church (formerly Lutheran) for sale in my favorite really small town in eastern Washington state:

    http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/Withrow_WA

I can't afford it, but they'll probably come way down in price. The last house sold there for $21000,00. It's a semi-ghost town. The church is in good shape. It's cold and snowy in the winter, due to high elevation, but warm and sunny from May to October. Good for growing grapes, which is what I'd like to grow if I can ever buy a little shack there someday. It's located, I think, about an hour (or a little more) east of Spokane. Safe community with low or no crime.
"It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."

  • Oops, I made a mistake. The little town of Withrow is located west of Spokane, not east of it.

And vacant premises are attractive to thieves, especially since you/we would be perceived as outsiders.  If you buy such a location you actually have to live there and become part of the community.
