  • Anybody hear of them?

They condemn Cathinfo, Novus Ordo Watch, Tradition In Action, and Traditio. In this article, they go after Cathinfo.

He is a heretic who believes all sɛҳuąƖ pleasure is evil, even within the bounds of sacramental marriage.

He believes that all sɛҳuąƖ relations must be "bare bones", utilitarian, done in the dark (so you don't see anything that might turn you on), and you must pray the whole time, and reject any pleasure that results.

    He's a Puritan, Manichean heretic!

I don't really mind when people like that post crap about me; he can't have too many followers. A classic example of what kind of junk you can find on the Internet -- any kook with an opinion and some free time can start a website. I'd like to think that once most visitors see his game, and see that he is a heretic, they SHOULD understand why he has a problem with a Catholic like me.

Did I mention that he used to be protestant, a few short years ago? And yet as a new, ignorant convert he sets up a website to teach the world.

Last time he was here on CathInfo, I took him to task for his puerile obsession with sex. He's a single, unmarried layman. And he thinks he's "justified" to read every book he can get his hands on that talks about sex. Really, this crusade against sɛҳuąƖ pleasure is just an excuse for an unmarried layman to dwell on sɛҳuąƖ matters all the time -- because, when it comes right down to it, he's a psychological basketcase obsessed with sex.

I would say it's a form of "sour grapes". He can't find a wife, and it drives him insane on a daily basis, so he wants to "ruin it" for all the guys who are married. That's my amateur psychologist diagnosis :)

With a garnishing of Albigensianism, it sounds like.

    Yeah --

    St. Dominic, pray for us.

As for his charge about the "ads", I'm not seeing it. Once in a while I see a dating site for Filipino/Russian/Asian/Latina/etc. women, and I add it to the blocked list. I can always block any immodest ads.

But I think HE was getting...how shall I say...MORE than the average share of immodest ads, because it is common knowledge that Google tailors the ads YOU see to YOUR OWN past website browsing behavior. If you just looked for an air conditioner on Google, you're going to start seeing ads for air conditioners on every site that uses Google ads. It happens all the time.

This man (Heitanen) complains about immodest ads, bikinis, makeup ads. You do the math.

It's funny, I never see any of those.

I'm not saying that they ONLY show up based on past browsing history (or I'd never see any! But I've seen some.), but they certainly tailor the ads to target what the viewer is most interested in. If they don't have something better or "custom" for a given user, they show a random/generic ad from the pile.

His muckraking about the ads is quite ridiculous. The ads he speaks about I added to the blocked list as fast as I could. Why dwell on the past, on something I was not at fault about, which I dealt with in a Catholic manner?

  • Adds that show up on this website are related to your browsing history and personal tastes and they gather this information from cookies afaik.
Right now I have duvet sets being advertised because I have been looking for a bargain in duvet covers.  Once BPAS showed up which is an abortion provider in UK, now I can assure you 100 % that no one in my house was looking for an abortion but I assume it came up from my facebook connections to prolife groups and the topic of abortion being posted frequently.
Mathew has no control over this and if this is all the blogger could find to fling at him then Mathew can sit back and laugh at its nonsense.

I get ads for sites that sell "modest dress" all the time.  The other day I was googling for recipes because we couldn't find a recipe we thought we had in our home recipe book and now I'm seeing ads for foods with "natural ingredients" and other food related things.  I got ads for mail order degrees so I can become an ordained minister after looking for information on the new rites of orders.

Matthew is right.  If he's complaining about these kinds of ads, its because Google is offering ads that compliment his browsing history.

On another note, I was amazed to find a group (the site says they are a group of three!) that out-Dimonds the Dimonds.  Wow.  When one finds a website that excommunicates everyone, it's probably best to avoid that website forever.

  • Wow, I got quoted on his website. I should say about the immodest ads that for a while I was getting some immodest ads and sometimes I would tell Matthew about them so he could block them, but I haven't been getting any bad ads for a while now, so I am glad. I have no idea why but it is as it is.
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

I don't search with Google so I don't get as much ads like that.  I've been using startpage.com which says they protect your privacy and don't track your searches like Google does.  You can visit sites "anonymously" if you're just looking around.  But apparently if you actually interact with the website, Google can take note of your having visited there even if you got there without using the Google search engine.

But apparently Google's record keeping watches your views on Youtube, because ever since I watched a few Sid Roth videos I've been getting swamped with Sid Roth ads.  He must have an aggressive advertising department online.

(It was on one of Roth's panel shows where the Protestants all on the panel agreed that the witnesses in 1917 at Fatima didn't see the sun falling in the sky but rather what they had seen was a UFO.  At least they were honest enough to admit that they didn't know much about Fatima.
