  • I came across this video and information for the first time the other day.

And, it is important information for me, because I make it a point to consume chocolate.  I know chocolate contains a neurotoxin, and that it is a luxury.  But, in my situation, it keeps me from indulging in worse(in my opinion).   I melt 100% chocolate in water and add sugar, which is not as bad as chewing it with dairy and sugar and all of the other things that are either bad for teeth or bad for health.  And, it keeps me from all of the other bad treats normal for usa citizens to indulge in.  Despite that, it turns out there is another obstacle for the chocolate consumer.  And, that is, consuming it at the expense of enslaved african children(where the majority of big business cacao comes from).  And, the "bakers" bar chocolate that I was using from my local grocery store is guilty.  So, I have to change.  Guittard in california offers good prices on chocolate, and they get their cacao from good plantations in south america.  Anyways, watch the video if you are a chocolate consumer.

  • Very distressing indeed. I don't think I will enjoy chocolate quite so much from now on. Maybe I will not eat it at all!

Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,

  • Nadir - it is a tough video to watch.  Ignorance, lies, and gluttony rules the day.  I don't think that these children ever escape the life.  They are raised in it, surely indoctrinated, and then most likely next in line to become the traffickers and kidnappers that led to their situation in the first place.  It is a vicious cycle.  These children are likely separated from their family for ever.

    Good find +PG+.
South American chocolate.  Like their coffee, I find it best anyway.
Combine the 2 - a square of dark choc in your coffee.

  • Perevangela - that could be a tasty combo.  However, I actually had a bad experience with black coffee and sugar.  I felt sluggishly "wired" for about an hour.  It took 5 decades of the rosary to feel better.

    Now that's a health remedy!

You've got moxie, drinking black coffee.  I'm stuck on bullet proof coffee now to maximize healthy fats and it's a great brain and energy booster.  Sometimes w/ dark choc which has lower sugar, or with protein powder which is really good.

+PG+ your link made me realize that I need to investigate not only the poisonous aspects of the food supply before I purchase a product; i.e., additives, gmo, etc, but the source/conditions of preparation such as child labor.  I've not been diligent enough in that regard.

  • Perevangela - The diligence is necessary.  But, it can be overwhelming(a reality that directs the christian to Christ - who said blessed are the poor).
