Yes, that's the one! Thank you for that! Xavier Da Silviera.

Do you find the book's argument persuasive in defense of such a position? Particularly on the suspension of the assent?

"There will be an Ecumenical Council in the next century, after which there will be chaos in the Church. Tranquility will not return until the Pope succeeds in anchoring the boat of Peter between the twin pillars of Eucharistic Devotion and Devotion to Our Lady. This will come about one year before the end of the century." ~ St. John Bosco, "Twin Pillars prophecy", A.D. 1862.

I didn't say he condemned it, did I, maybe this is a little problem of yours, you don't read all the words when someone posts something.

Even if Bellarmine did condemn sedevacantism, although I don't believe he did in the context we are living in today.

It would be comparatively easy for us to be holy if only we could always see the character of our neighbours either in soft shade or with the kindly deceits of moonlight upon them. Of course, we are not to grow blind to evil for thus we should speedily become unreal; but we must grow to something higher, and something truer, than a quickness in detecting evil. - Fr. Faber

Malleus: If the Pope is a legitimate Pope - Sedevacantism is an incorrect position to take. I as a sedevacantist acknowledge that.  But if the Pope is a False Pope- then it is the correct position to take.  Ultimately today, a Catholic must decide whether Obedience to a POPE is correct in matters of Faith and Morals where the Teachings are obviously no longer Orthodox and or outside the Deposit of Faith in many cases completely - simply because He is purports to be Pope and has been elected. Bellarmine never commented on just such an occurance directly.
