According to Fisheaters, you don't abstain or fast on Friday if a 1st Class Feast falls on that day.

But I don't know... the Angelus calendar has a fish on that day symbolizing "abstinence (traditional)"

I am inclined to go ahead and do the relatively easy penance -- we all have to do our penance, and it's really not that difficult to give up meat for ONE DAY.

What do you think?

The Feast Day of the Sacred Heart, as established and illustrated by Pope Pius XI in his Encyclical Letter Miserentissimus Redemptor (8 May 1928), is suffused with the spirit of reparation and atonement.

So, I would think that the abstinence from flesh-meats would be most fitting, and it would dispose the soul to receive more graces on such a great Feast Day by conforming in such manner to the spirit of sacrifice and atonement that is seen in the Mass and Office: whether or not the law of Friday abstinence obliges (and I believe it does).
