If you already have a degree, becoming CPA-eligible or even passing the exam would be a quicker path to a good job. A basic bookkeeping position would keep you in food and shelter until you could get your license.
I'm sure you know gov't accounting is different than corporate, so you'd likely be locking in your future as a gov't employee by getting experience through the military.
