Go to a range and shoot a .22, and, after you are familiar, buy one and some ammo.

.22s are very doable for a woman -- and small enough have in a purse :)

I meant Keltec makes the pocket pistols. Kahr also makes small pistols. Expensive.

Q.: In OH, would you have to be the holder of some gun permit first, before you could legally go to a range and try shooting?
