I'll quote this since Belloc is raking up the ignores pretty quick this week. fwiw, I think you're confused. I doubt she's ever posted there. She can correct me if I'm wrong. |
I can't say I'm 100% sure I never did, but if I ever had an account there, I might have posted a couple times or something (I did in a few other forums), but... nothing I recall specifically. I certainly never took a liking to it if I did, and I'm certainly not an active member there at all. (Considering I can't even recall clearly anything past that I might have checked it out.)

......................... I renounce any and all of my former views against what the Church through Pope Leo XIII said, "This, then, is the teaching of the Catholic Church ...no one of the several forms of government is in itself condemned, inasmuch as none of them contains anything contrary to Catholic doctrine, and all of them are capable, if wisely and justly managed, to insure the welfare of the State. Neither is it blameworthy in itself, in any manner, for the people to have a share greater or less, in the government..." I likewise renounce any statements I may have made, insinuating that the Church should "change it's mind" in this matter, or might somehow be wrong about it. God forgive me!

Holy Smokes...not only holy smokes, but I cant even read heads or tails of most of the posts. Myrna- I think we think alike on GB. I dont idolize him, but look more at the info he procures. I dont want to fan any flames, just give a couple of thoughts.
Belloc-seriously-you are either going to have to join a seminarian list to debate more 'educated' types, or come down a couple notches, cause nothing you say makes sense to me. From what I could see, you dont actually give an arguement for your position, you just talk as if we already have all the info you have, but choose not to make a good choice. I am always open to opinions w/explanations-I dont know it all. Esp in these times, when I am torn between MY nation, and her history. Do I fight for her or no? I will keep looking for answers, but am afraid that time grows short.
PS. I just got this prayer from my priest this week-I did find it beautiful and will continue to pray it.
Prayer for the Conversion of America
Almighty God, bring the Faith to our beloved country. It was once a virgin land wherein the only praise was that of the murmur of the Holy Mass on these shores, the hills and the prairies. Zealous priests and explorers claimed it for Thee, giving Thy Holy Name to its rivers, lakes and cities. From east to west they traveled, from mission to mission, from Mass to Mass, until the land was encircled by prayer and gave of its bounty to Thy glory. And now it is dedicated to Thy Immaculate Mother. May she find America again, as she once found the lost Child Jesus in the temple. May she touch the hearts of our people, disposing them to receive the ancient Faith, and thus showing them the things that are to their peace. We ask this of Thee through Jesus Christ our Lord. R. Amen.
Defend, O Lord, Thy people: and as they put their trust in the patronage of Thy holy Apostles, Peter and Paul, keep them ever by Thy protection through Christ our Lord. R. Amen.

I have a shorter one... "Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy kingdom come!"
But I'm sure that many people (myself included) don't pray for our country nearly as much (or in the way) we ought to. "God bless America" isn't quite the same as "God convert America!" Maybe after the crisis in the Church gets straightened out, people will have more energy to focus on their homelands. It's not only America, after all, but the whole world that must bow to Him. It is His kingdom, and it must recognize His kingship. (Or heaven help us all!)
