I thought I would create a new thread for this, to help confine the subject to this topic.

I have gone through the entire thread concerning "Ode to Reality" and extracted mentions concerning smoking. Of course, page one shows that the Ode includes the line, "School kids allowed to smoke", but it wasn't until after I entered the thread (page 21) that it was brought up by Eamon as a point to try to help convince me that SGG is a cult. I didn't bring the subject of smoking up. Believe it or not, while I talked of other things, Eamon repeated several times about the smoking at SGG. I finally commented on page 27. Let me pause to show the repetitiveness between pages 22 and 27. I will retain all the original bold and italic emphasis. Then I will continue my commentary:

Eamon repeatedly said:

SGG School manual explicitly forbids
the law of the land ALSO forbids
smokes openly
something enabled, condoned, and protected by Fr Cekada
this issue illustrates the main principle involved in the matters that take place either in front of or behind the curtain....they are ABOVE THE LAW, whether civil or ecclesiastical
the law of the land ALSO forbids such
Fr Cekada's "permission" for this boy to smoke on SGG property DOES NOT invalidate the law of the State of OH, which forbids such activity ANYWHERE.  He has NO AUTHORITY to do what he is doing.
still permitted to smoke, at SGG and elsewhere, to this day

State of OH also forbids
One young man, who is only 16, smokes openly

Let nobody try to fool you, this was meant to help convince that SGG was a cult. You don't repeat something like this to someone already convinced. Yes, and it shows that Eamon considered it a serious matter. His thesis was to show SGG thought themselves "above the law" to make then look like an autonomous cult. No distinctions were made about "penal" law, simply above all law. When one says "law" it is all-inclusive. It sure is, Eamon.

One of the first things Eamon (gladius) wrote before he repeated about smoking was this:
Quote:

the point therein is essential to understanding sgg.org/cult

One of the things that prompted my Christmas email was the protection of smoking by minors

However, after explaining how the Catholic Church views penal laws, Eamon tries to save face; he starts to get into other acts by the boys that are immoral. But we weren't talking mere Catholic morals, we were talking about being "above the law". And it is a fact that breaking the Ohio law on smoking is a penal law, like not wearing a seat-belt, littering, loitering, j-walking, driving using cell-phone, etc. I have proven that they do NOT think they are above the civil law, not even penal. One of Eamon's "essential to understanding" points is blown away. Though Eamon was previously very upset with the breaking of "the law", he changed his tune:

Quote:
"I'm not worried that much about the act of smoking in itself.  But maybe we should be a little bit more upset about the stash of marijuana that the same student boasts about keeping in the Lotarski basement"

Sure, maybe we can look at something else, but that is precisely "something else", not the breaking of a smoking law or rule.

Eamon also failed on his "school rules" allegation. It is common principle that the makers of a rule can just as easily change it, or make exceptions, or dispensation. It is false Catholic principle to say that Fr. Cekada and the principal cannot do those things. Ignorance is a terrible thing, as it proves in Eamon's case on this point. It goes from the allegation of "NO AUTHORITY", to the conclusion of, YES, authority.

[Hand gestures, immoral websites, etc., are not smoking, and do not pertain to the law, so these are not the subject here in this thread.]

We cannot wait, plainly disinterested one who 'knows' not even a single parishioner at SGG.

Btw, understanding the inner workings of a group that is undoubtedly a cult and discerning whether or not a particular organization is, in fact, a cult are two different things.

Considering how many others, near and far, call SGG a cult -- some of whom have been doing so for quite a while -- your Herculean efforts to prove the contrary will only serve to destroy you and the very thing you are defending (which, in the final analysis, is -- surprise! -- YOU).

"You hypocrites, you know how to discern the face of the heaven and of the earth: but how is it that you do not discern this time?"

The quote you are using, as proof that I changed my tune, is from Monkey, Padre. :smirk:

So, we are to presume that when a psychopath-in-training uses the computer in the Principal's office to view immoral websites/videos that corrupt impressionable, younger boys, he is not actually violating any law -- not even the rules of the school, the natural law, etc.?

Is that about right, Professor?

Although I imagine all are well aware, when a writer uses a quote from one man as if it is from another, it does not look too good.

Enjoy violating the law of abstinence at the Harvest Chili Dinner tomorrow, Padre.

As expected, not one word from Eamon on the substance of WHAT was presented.

LOL!!! :laugh2:

So, pointing out that part of the whole is, in fact, fraudulently presented DOES NOT touch upon the substance?  That, especially coming from Raw-hide, is one helluva hoot!

:applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

Thanks, Padre.  I needed a good laugh.  You may carry on where the business of burying yourself alive is concerned...

Gratuitous claims mean nothing. Explanations do. Feel free to explain where I am wrong, how it is still a serious thing to violate any penal law and how such violation supports the notion of a cult.
